THE PROJECT
THE PROJECT
The idea behind this concert is to create a unique experience by combining music with literature and visual arts. Artfusion 1917 – The world into which Finland was born gives the audience a profound and versatile understanding of how it was to live in the year 1917. Everything you see and hear is from 1917, the year Finland declared independence from Russia. However, the music and art reflect the turmoil the whole world was going through in WW1.
The artists in the project are violinist Annemarie Åström, cellist Tomas Nunez-Garces, actor Riko Eklundh and pianist Annika Palm.
In addition to meaningful solo piano and chamber music works, the programme includes intriguing texts by Finnish Swedish authors and pictures and paintings as background images enhancing the experience.
The project received a year’s scholarship from the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland.
